Tennis Bracelet Size Guide: How to Measure Your Wrist and Choose 7 or 8 Inches

14K white gold lab-grown diamond tennis bracelet with round four-prong diamonds

A tennis bracelet should sit close enough to stay on the wrist and loose enough to move a little. Get the length wrong and it either pinches or slides around and flips over. Measuring takes two minutes, and this guide shows exactly how.

Quick answer: measure your wrist, then add 0.5 inch for a snug fit, 0.75 inch for a comfortable fit or 1 inch for a loose fit. If you are not sure and your wrist is about 6 to 6.5 inches, a 7-inch bracelet is the usual choice. For a wrist of about 7 to 7.5 inches, choose 8 inches.

How to measure your wrist

  1. Wrap a soft tape measure around your wrist just above the wrist bone, where the bracelet will sit. No tape measure? Use a strip of paper or a piece of string, mark where it overlaps, then lay it against a ruler.
  2. Keep it snug but not tight, with the tape flat against your skin.
  3. Write down the measurement in inches.
  4. Add the extra length for the fit you want, using the chart below.

Tennis bracelet fit chart

Fit Add to wrist size How it feels
Snug +0.5 inch Little movement, stays in place
Comfortable +0.75 inch Drapes with some movement
Loose +1 inch Moves freely and can slide on the wrist

A well-fitted tennis bracelet leaves about one finger of space between the bracelet and your wrist, and it should not slide over your hand.

Which length matches which wrist

Bracelet length Typical wrist size
6.5 inches 5.5 to 6 inches
7 inches 6 to 6.5 inches
7.5 inches 6.5 to 7 inches
8 inches 7 to 7.5 inches

Our 7-inch and 8-inch tennis bracelets

The ICEVAULT 14K gold lab-grown diamond tennis bracelet comes in two lengths. The diamond weight grows with the length, because a longer bracelet holds more stones.

Length Approx. diamond weight Approx. gold weight Best for wrists of about Price
7 inches 4.5 ctw 8.75 g 6 to 6.5 inches $1,950
8 inches 5.15 ctw 10 g 7 to 7.5 inches $2,150

Both lengths use round brilliant lab-grown diamonds of approximately F color or better and VS clarity or better in a four-prong setting, with a box clasp and dual safety latches. They are made in 14K white, yellow or rose gold. Our 14K gold color guide can help you pick the metal.

Between 7 and 8 inches?

If your wrist measures about 6.75 inches, you are between sizes. A 7-inch bracelet will sit snug and stay put. An 8-inch bracelet will drape and move more. Think about how you will wear it: if you want it to stay in place all day, go with the shorter length. If you prefer a looser, more flowing drape, choose the longer one. Send us a message and we will help you decide.

Tips for a better fit

  • Measure the wrist you will wear it on. Many people have a slightly larger wrist on the dominant side.
  • Measure at the end of the day if you tend to swell in the heat or after exercise.
  • If it is a gift, check a bracelet she already wears. Lay it flat and measure end to end, clasp included.

Frequently asked questions

What size tennis bracelet should I get?

Measure your wrist and add 0.5 to 1 inch depending on how snug you want it. For many women that comes out at 7 inches.

Should a tennis bracelet be tight or loose?

Neither. It should move slightly but not slide over your hand. About one finger of space is a good guide.

How many carats is a tennis bracelet?

It depends on the length and the size of each diamond. Our 7-inch bracelet is approximately 4.5 ctw and our 8-inch is approximately 5.15 ctw.

Can I wear a tennis bracelet every day?

Ours is designed with a low-profile four-prong setting for everyday wear. Take it off for heavy lifting, swimming and cleaning, and follow our care tips.
